Hello!
ilse A. Torres is an illustrator and graphic designer from Houston Texas, U.S.A., currently living in England, U.K.
She earned her degree in Graphic Design at the University of Houston, where the curriculum focused on sustainability, climate change, and social justice advocacy and literacy.
As a result, she builds her career around creating work for causes that benefit people and the planet and is an aspiring author of books that reflect her love for the Earth and fellow Earthlings.
Random facts about her include;
She used to be an underground (way underground) cartoonist and wrote, illustrated and published a comic series about curious aliens that crash land in Houston—for a quarterly magazine called GEEKED.
She loves making music playlists. There is one for every occasion. It's an incurable disease.
Named after an 80s Mexican-German pop singer from a band called Flans.
Illustrated the interior pages and cover for the book Race Rules: What Your Black Friend Won't Tell You by Fatimah Gilliam. Check it out!
Artists that have inspired her work over the years include;
Art Spiegelman, Saul Bass, Alvin Lustig, Picasso, Matisse, Miroslav Sasek, Bruno Munari, Naiad Einsel, Evaline Ness, Christian Robinson, Gosia Herba, Julia Sarda, Felicita Sala, and many more.
She was put on this Earth for the sole purpose of telling stories; through art, design, and hopefully one day, her own published books.
If you have a great story to tell, that will positively shape our future, she would love to help you tell it.
She'll even make a playlist for it.
